The United Nations states that the increase in population has largely been accompanied by an increase in the number of people living to reproductive age and with major changes in fertility rates, increased urbanization and increased migration. History of World Population Day
The celebration of World Population Day on 11 July was initiated in 1989 by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme. In fact, by July 11, 1987, the figure of the global population had crossed 5 billion, in view of which it was decided to celebrate and continue this day keeping in mind the global interests. Various programs are organized to spread awareness on World Population Day.
Various social programs and meetings are organized, competitions, road shows, street plays and many other ways are included to spread awareness on World Population Day. At present China and India are the most populous countries in the world.
